Electric Car
Am Montag, 12. Jan 2009
If the electric car, like all news say, is the car of the future then the stocks of the manufactures of recharchable batteries should be the next to buy. But who is it?
From what I read, there seems to be one manufacturer left in the US named EnerDel now owned by Ener1, while the Asian market is mostly Panasonic-Sanyo.

3D-Displays - DirectX vs. OpenGL
Am Montag, 12. Jan 2009 im Topic '3D'
Yesterday iZ3D showed their new 3D Display meant for Gamers. As far as I understood the technical files on their homepage it only works with DirectX for it already contains Depth Information and that makes the Display with the associated driver ideal for gamers.
The Nvidia solution works the same way but says to support OpenGL for professional applications through the Quadro series of graphic cards later this year.
Good news for professional workers. 3D gaming is nice, but I don't think I would afford a 3D-display just for gaming.

Technologies in 2009
Am Sonntag, 11. Jan 2009 im Topic 'VR, 3D, Touch'
The year has started and I keep wondering what technologies and developments will be important this year in IT.
I think its gonna be touch technologies and 3D. We saw lots of improvement with multitouch and things like that last year and now the first netbooks are coming with touchscreens I am curious how goog they will work.
Integrating cheap hardware, broadband access, touch- and Web 2.0 Technologies seems to me a very good idea for everyone running around using their notebook just for things like looking up e-mails, coordinating projekts and maybe typing a small document or a calculation.
On the other hand low cost 3D Technologies become available, Nvidia introduced active stereo equipment last week that works with 120Hz displays. I really would like to get a grip on one of these things - just to play around and see if its really that good. I am not much of a games but I think theres a lot of potential in CAD and 3D-Design.

Browser OS or I dont want to wait five minutes to check my email
Am Sonntag, 11. Jan 2009 im Topic 'OS'
Today I got up and wanted to do the things I usually do, read emails, load my IM, check the usual news sites and so on.
Booting up Windows or one of the Linux Distributions I have installed for test purposes took too long. I want a distribution i can fire up in a few seconds and would be perfectly happy with a browser, that does all that fancy Web 2.0 stuff. So I looked around but the only thing looking promising to me is the new gOS named "Cloud" that is not ready for download. Guess I'll have to wait for a few.

So this seems to be my blog. Never thought I get this far to write articles on the internet. But, here I am, its meant for discussing and remembering things, news and discussions I found on the Internet. Anyone who is interested is welcome to read along. If not, I don't mind.
